Role Overview
Job Description: -Supervise and manage day-to-day construction activities at site in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements. -Plan and coordinate site activities with the Site Manager, Construction Manager, Planning, QA/QC, HSE, Engineering, Procurement, and subcontractor teams. -Ensure construction works are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with the approved project schedule. -Review and understand IFC drawings, shop drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and material requirements. -Coordinate with engineering teams regarding technical queries, RFIs, drawing revisions, and site technical issues. -Monitor manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractor activities to ensure optimum utilization of resources. -Supervise construction activities and ensure proper sequencing of works to avoid delays and rework. -Coordinate civil, structural, electrical, and other site activities as applicable to substation and transmission line projects. -Monitor and report daily progress and coordinate with the Planning Engineer to ensure activities are progressing as per the approved schedule. -Prepare daily site reports, progress updates, and required site documentation. -Coordinate with QA/QC Engineers for inspections, ITP requirements, material inspections, and testing activities. -Ensure all works are completed in accordance with approved quality standards and project specifications. -Coordinate with HSE personnel to ensure compliance with project safety requirements and safe working practices. -Identify construction constraints, delays, and potential risks and escalate them to the Site Manager/Project Manager. -Coordinate with clients, consultants, and inspectors for site inspections, approvals, and technical matters. -Ensure proper receipt, handling, storage, and utilization of construction materials at site. -Coordinate with subcontractors and monitor their performance, productivity, and compliance with project requirements. -Assist in preparation and implementation of recovery plans where construction activities fall behind schedule. -Participate in daily coordination meetings, toolbox meetings, progress meetings, and technical discussions. -Ensure proper completion of punch-list items and support testing, commissioning, energization, and project handover activities. -Maintain proper site records, inspection requests, material records, drawings, and other project documentation. -Ensure that all construction activities comply with applicable client/utility standards, project specifications, and approved procedures. Requirements: Proven experience in Substation and/or Transmission Line construction projects. Strong understanding of construction methodologies, site coordination, and project execution. Ability to read and interpret IFC drawings, shop drawings, technical specifications, and method statements. Experience coordinating with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams. Good knowledge of project quality and HSE requirements. Experience with major power utilities / transmission and distribution projects is an advantage. Gulf experience is preferred, particularly in large-scale substation and transmission line projects. Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines. Preferred Candidate: Candidates with hands-on experience in GCC power projects, particularly 132kV/220kV/400kV substations and overhead transmission line construction, will be given preference.
